Gamers can test their skills by maneuvering real robots through a non-virtual obstacle course at Saturday’s ROBO-CON event, slated for 10 a.m. ? 7 p.m. July 19 at Lapeer’s Center for Innovation (Lapeer West High School), 170 Millville Road, Lapeer.
There is no admission fee for the event, where participants can try to beat a robot in disc-throwing and hoop-shooting contests, as well as see student-built robots on the game field, including robots created by Ortonville FIRST Robotics Team 68, Truck Town Thunder.
Look for the flying robot quadcopter, a soap box derby practice track, a giant slingshot, selfies with the ‘Lost in Space? B9 robot, prizes, and other fun. Woodchips BBQ of Lapeer will also be selling food on site. ‘Geek costumes? are encouraged.
ROBO-CON is hosted by the Chimeras Lapeer Robotics Team 1684, with the support of Cypress Computer Systems and Lapeer Community Schools. Details: http://FIRST1684.com.
