Pancake breakfast at Immanuel Church
On Saturday, Aug. 2 from 7:30 to 10 a.m., Immanuel Congregational United Church of Church in Oxford Village will host a pancake breakfast to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Breakfast will consist of buttermilk and blueberry pancakes, sausages, juice and beverage, all for $7. Children under age 2 will eat free. Take-out is available, but please call ahead to (248) 628-1610.

When and where to vote in Aug. 5 primary
The polls for the Tuesday, Aug. 5 primary election will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Remember to bring photo identification, such as a driver’s license or state identification card, to present at the polls.
Because it is a primary election, voters are reminded to not split their ballot when it comes to the partisan races. Voters must select either all Republican or all Democratic candidates otherwise the partisan portion of the ballot will be voided.
However, a split ballot won’t affect the non-partisan issues such as millage proposals. Those votes will be counted even if a ballot is split in the partisan portion.
In Oxford Township, voters can cast their ballots at the Oxford Veterans Memorial Civic Center, 28 N. Washington St. (Precinct 1); Oxford Elementary School, 109 Pontiac St. (Precincts 2 and 7); Oxford Free Methodist Church, 790 S. Lapeer Rd. (Precinct 3); Christ the King Church, 1550 W. Drahner Rd. (Precincts 4 and 5); and the Oxford Public Library, 530 Pontiac Rd. (Precinct 6).
Clerk Curtis Wright said absentee ballots will be available at the Oxford Twp. Hall (300 Dunlap Rd.) on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. They’ll also be available on Monday, Aug. 4, but they must be marked and submitted at the hall. They can’t leave the building that day.
In Addison, voters can cast their ballots on election day at Rowland Hall in Leonard (Precinct 1), the Addison Township offices in Lakeville (Precinct 2) and Fire Station #1 in Leonard (Precinct 3).

Free VBS at OUMC
Oxford United Methodist Church (21 E. Burdick St.) invites all children to discover how the ordinary becomes extraordinary with God at the free Workshop of Wonders Vacation Bible School.
The fun begins Sunday, Aug. 3 and ends Thursday Aug. 7. The VBS runs from 5:30 until 8:30p.m. Age groups are: Preschoolers (age 3-5) with parents, Kindergarten thru 5th grade and Youth – 6th thru 12th grade. Tuesday, July 22
? A person called to report a driver almost ran another vehicle off the roadway at the corner of S. Washington Street and Dennison Street. Officers were unable to locate.
Thursday, July 24
? A woman went to the sheriff substation to report her identity had been stolen. According to the woman she was alerted by Experian Credit Bureau that there was a Disney Rewards Visa Card with a past due amount of $433. The woman said she never opened the account, but found the card was opened March 2014 and that a purchase was made March 27 for $398.22. Disney loss prevention told the woman the items were shipped to a woman with the same last name but different first name who lived in Detroit Michigan, but the card was opened under the name of the woman making the complaint with an address of Utica Mi. The billing statement were mailed to the Utica address but were returned undeliverable. Sheriff’s deputies contacted Disney loss prevention but were put on hold and could not get through to an operator. The case remains open.
? A woman called village police to report a man sleeping on the sidewalk next to a bicycle behind a business, located in the 10 block of S. Washington Street. Officers located the man, who said he was warming up in the sun and moved on.
Saturday, July 26
? A worker at a local business, located in the 90 block of W. Burdick called village police after receiving repeated harassing phone calls.
? Village police responded to a call of a person being intoxicated and harassing residents at the scene, located in the 60 block of E. Burdick Street.
Sunday, July 27
? Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 33000 block of Garfield Road in Fraser Mi to meet with Fraser Police Department for a felony for Dangerous Drugs warrant pick-up. The 27 year-old female was ran through LEIN an showed a valid felony for dangerous drugs. The woman was handed over to Oakland County’s deputies and transported to Oakland County Jail for lodging.
? Sheriff’s deputies responded to a dispatch to the 17600 block of Mound Road in Detroit to meet with a Sgt. Of the Mound Correctional Facility for a warrant pick-up. The 35 year-old man was ran through LEIN a valid Friend of the Court warrant. The man was given over to sheriff’s deputies and transported to Oakland County Jail for lodging.
? A man called village police to report a man passed out near Patterson’s Pharmacy. Police escorted the man home to his address near the theatre.
? A woman called village police to complain of someone ringing her doorbell in the 230 block of Oxford Lakes Drive.
