Church of Christ seeks projects to help the community

Starting this week, the Lake Orion Church of Christ began lending volunteers to the local community to give a little bit of extra summertime help.
From July 31 to August 4, volunteers from the Church of Christ will be out in the streets and neighborhoods of Lake Orion and Oxford for the 9th annual ‘Mission: Possible? weeklong service project.
Last year church volunteer teams helped over 30 neighbors, families, seniors and anybody who needed an extra hand with functions like cleaning, organizing, painting, de-landscaping, simple plumbing, light carpentry and general landscaping at their homes.
Organizer Kevin Kadrich and his crews are still on the lookout for people to help and projects to take on free of charge.
‘It’s a real mission trip that we decided to do local,? Kadrich said. ‘We are looking for anything a family or neighbor might need done which they may not have the means to provide for themselves otherwise.?
More than 100 volunteers camped out at the Church of Christ last year eating breakfast and dinner together, making project plans for the day and performing their duties. Some volunteers camp out at the church the entire week.
Although volunteers are welcome, Church of Christ is looking to expand their project lists for the service week.
Some requests were for weed pulling, wall demolition and debris clearing. Others groups preferred simple visitations, like last year’s pizza party at the Hope Senior Center.
Teams also planned to help with the Lone Ranger Parade cleanup in Oxford.
A new idea this year is for the church to create a specific visitation team to do Bible studies for anyone or any family that is interested.
‘If you know anyone in the area who could benefit with some assistance please contact us immediately,? Kadrich said.
