Lake Orion administration raised about $1,200 for the ALS Michigan foundation in honor of local and national people struggling with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
‘We were just proud to participate with the social media craze surrounding the ALS ice bucket challenge,? LOHS Steve Hawley said, passing the challenge on to the principals and administrations of both Clarkston and Oxford high schools.
Television Production Workshop teacher Roger Smith nominated LO administration and set up the fundraising challenge. About 140 people willingly dumped buckets of ice water over their heads last week after freshmen orientation, along with donating to the fund.
‘It felt great, but it felt even better to have our entire staff to be able to contribute to a worthy cause, especially when we have LO students in this building who are affected by it,? Smith said.
