Clarkston’s Art in the Village has plenty to offer this weekend

CLARKSTON ? Art, antiques and edibles will fill Depot Park for Clarkston’s 41st annual Art in the Village, Sept. 13 and 14. Hours for the juried show, hosted by the Clarkston Community Historical Society, are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Art in the Village is the CCHS? primary fundraiser. Proceeds underwrite exhibits at the Clarkston Heritage Museum, the purchase and restoration of important Clarkston artifacts, and educational programs for the public throughout the year. Admission is free.
In addition to decorative, functional and wearable art by nearly 90 artisans and specialty items by vendors, the event features live music and children’s activities. The popular Antique Tent returns with donated antiques and collectibles for sale.
A Silent Auction tent features items generously donated to the historical society by show artists. The historical society also will sell shirts, bags, hats, blankets, note cards and other Clarkston merchandise perfect for holiday gifts. The Clarkston Farm and Garden Club returns with fresh-cut flower arrangements and mums.
For hungry shoppers, the Clarkston Union restaurant, a presenting sponsor, returns with its internationally famous Mac & Cheese, as well as other selections from a limited menu. The historical society will sell doughnuts and locally pressed cider, and community organizations will raise funds by selling pizza, hot dogs, fresh sweet corn and baked goods.
Depot Park is located in the heart of Clarkston, just off Main Street (M-15).
The CCHS is accepting donations of antiques and collectibles for the sale. Donors will receive a tax receipt listing the fair market value of donated items. Items can be dropped off at the Clarkston DPW garage, near the Village offices on Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The CCHS & Heritage Museum is located in the Independence Township Library, 6495 Clarkston Road. The museum is open during library hours. The CCHS & Heritage Museum is a 501(c)3 charity.
