Oxford schools have hired 21 teachers this year with one more to finalize, according to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Nancy Latowski.
‘We had a number of retirements and resignations, so we’ve done a lot of replacement hiring and some shifting of positions and that type of thing,? Latowski said. ‘It’s been a very busy, productive summer of recruiting and hiring.?
At the elementary level, Clear Lake hired Helen Chen, foreign language, Margo Peluso, fourth grade and Colleen Ransford for fifth grade. Nicole Dereski is teaching second grade at Daniel Axford, Amelia Haggadone is teaching third grade at Lakeville Elementary and Alicia Daniels is teaching fifth grade at Oxford Elementary.
Oxford Middle School hired Jessica Granger for physical education; Corey Jahlas will teach band; Lauren Kerner and Alyssa Macumber are special education teachers; Kaci Poland will teach sixth grade social studies along with Vittoria Wallace and Yanyu Ward will teach Chinese.
At the high school Ann Bolton will teach science, Dana Brewer english/ dance, Jill Gregg and Norman Petersimes special teachers ? English Language Arts and Karen Beaham will teach Spanish both at the high school and Oxford Virtual Academy (OVA).
Bridges High School also hired Nicholas Cost to teach both math and science. Crossroads hired Special Education teachers Jean Denver for science and Mark Patterson for Physical Education and Andrew Katowski for math.
Other hires included Shelly Chapman, principal at Crossroads; Nathan Spencer, instructional coach for the district; Angela Thick, communication coordinator for the district; Christ Gutowski, theatre manager at the high school; Shutian (Reina) Chen, student service specialist for Oxford International Residence Academy (OIRA); Stacy Kennelly as a counselor and Kristie Saterstad as the dean of students at OMS.
‘It’s been a very busy, productive summer of recruiting and hiring. We got some really great teachers (and staff) this year so we’re very excited,? Latowski added. ‘It is a lot of change it seems like this year, but it’s going well.?
