Absentee polls open

Absentee voting is underway, with several Clarkston races on the ballot.
For Clarkston Board of Education, incumbents Trustee Elizabeth Egan, Trustee Steve Hyer, and President Rosalie Lieblang, and challengers Donald E. Deering and Kelli Horst are running for three open seats.
The League of Women Voters will moderate the Board Of Education Candidates Forum at Clarkston Junior High School, 7 p.m., Oct. 16.
Running for 43rd District state representative, vacated due to term limits by Rep. Gail Haines, are Republican Jim Tedder of Clarkston and Democrat Dennis Ritter of Clarkston.
In the Oakland County Commission’s Fourth District, incumbent Republican Tom Middleton of Clarkston is running against Democrat challenger Phil Reid of Clarkston.
Running for Clarkston City Council are incumbent council members Sharron Catallo, Peggy Roth, and Michael Sabol, and challenger Richard Bisio
Mayor Joseph Luginski is running unopposed for reelection.
Registered voters can vote absentee if they are 60 years old or older; unable to vote without assistance at the polls; expecting to be out of town on election day; in jail awaiting arraignment or trial; unable to attend the polls due to religious reasons; or appointed to work as an election inspector in a precinct outside of your precinct of residence.
Requests to local clerk’s office to have an absentee voter ballot mailed to you must be received no later than 2 p.m. the Saturday before the Nov. 3 election.
