Development of property off Deerhill Road is moving forward after decades of delay.
The current proposal is for single family housing with 69 condominiums. A proposed layout of the property was previously addressed by Independence Township Planning Commission. The Township Board got its first look at it at its last meeting.
At a previous meeting, area residents voiced concerns regarding traffic in the neighborhood. Township planning firm Carlisle/Wortman Associates assured residents they would work with Road Commission for Oakland County and Michigan Department of Transportation to fix any issues.
Ronald Richie, township board and planning commission member, said the developer plans include recommendations from the commission.
Trustee David Lohmeier said he believes plans fit in well with the existing neighborhood. Construction is planned to begin in 2015.
