Northern Flooring and Interiors, LLC of Lake Orion will be holding a fundraiser to benefit Shop with a Hero, an annual event that began in Lake Orion eight years ago.
Shop with a Hero is a local effort to provide low-income families an opportunity to make the holidays memorable and exciting for residents who otherwise might not be able to afford to.
This year the Lake Orion Police Department is pairing up with Sister Souls Inc., Target and Northern Flooring to provide the fundraiser before the shopping event held on Dec. 9.
The fundraiser at Northern Flooring is set for Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 5-7 p.m. at 616 S. Lapeer Rd. and asks for a $5 donation for a prize ticket. Northern Flooring will also be celebrating their 25th anniversary with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Shop With a Hero event traditionally was hosted at the Meijer’s in Oxford and will occur at both Meijer’s and the Target in Auburn Hills off Brown Rd. at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9. Both police and fire from Orion, Oxford, Oakland, Brandon and Addison town ships will partner with over 100 area families. Low income children will be selected to shop with their local police officers, deputies, FBI agents, firefighters and military personnel for the toys they may have only dreamt about. Community members can donate to the effort at sistersouls.org or by mailing a check to the LOPD at 21 E. Church St. in Lake Orion.
