Oxford Township resident Robert Deck was suspended from practicing optometry, including operating out of his Orion Township office, based on his misdemeanor conviction of indecent exposure.
Deck was convicted of one count of indecent exposure and sentenced July 29 after an incident that occurred in July 2013.
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) suspended his license Oct. 24, 2014, based on his conviction in Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Pontiac.
‘LARA executed an order summarily suspending Deck’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the summary suspension of a health professional’s license when it is found that the public health, safety, or welfare requires emergency action,? the press release read.
Initially Deck was charged with aggravated indecent exposure, which was dropped to the misdemeanor conviction after a plea bargain this summer.
He was sentenced to 12 months of probation for the incident that occurred August 13, 2013, after hours in his doctor’s office at 81 Indianwood Rd suite #1.
Deck, 49, was accused of asking a 33-year-old patient to step into his personal office after applying a new set of contacts. Once there, he wanted her to watch him masturbate. The victim turned Deck in to local authorities after she had recorded the audio of this incident on her I-phone.
