At 7 p.m., Nov. 21, the Brandon Special Education Department will host A Night in Hollywood at the Brandon High School Performing Arts Center. The event will feature formal attire including tuxedos and gowns, live band and vocalists and a basket drawing for attendees.
The runway fashion show will feature models with special needs. The event is hosted by ‘Miss Hudsonville,? Brooke Naumcheff and ‘Miss Oxford,? Emily Kalohn. Participants are students from Brandon Schools, Oxford Schools, O.A.T.S. and Banbury Cross Therapeutic Equestrian Center.
‘Join us for a great evening of fun,? said Diane Zedan, director of special education at Brandon School. ‘The students will learn to walk with poise and get the opportunity to be in the spotlight. There will be a professional photographer in attendance for the models.?
Kalohn wants the models to consist of a mix of special and general education students from Oxford and Brandon high schools.
‘I’m really hoping they develop some friendships,? she said. ‘Support is everything. I want them to feel glamorous. I want them to be as comfortable and feel as beautiful as they possibly can.?
Both female and male models are needed for the show.
‘I can’t stress that enough,? said Kalohn, who’s a freshman at Oakland Community College.
Sponsors willing to donate money, raffle prizes and props for use as show decorations are being sought.
‘We’re asking that anything that is donated is glamorous and glitzy, just like Hollywood,? Kalohn added.
The event’s color scheme includes red, black, gold and white.
