The annual Clarkston Farm and Garden Club Greens Market is a tradition in Clarkston.
The one-day event is Saturday, Dec. 6, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, 6490 Clarkston Road, across from the library. It’s the place shoppers can find over 200 fresh green arrangements made by club members for sale to the community.
Along with the fresh green arrangements, boxwood wreaths, mail box huggers to decorate outdoor boxes, birch Yule logs, potpourri, urn bundles for outdoor usage, and bay wreaths are available at the market.
Club members also sell fresh green materials for the ‘do it yourself decorator.? Holly, hemlock, cedar, Douglas fir, and coned cedar will be available.
Themed trees depicting sports teams, movies, and hobbies are also available at the market.
Chairperson Anita Andes wants customers to know they can order personalized themed arrangements by calling by Dec. 3. Club members will create an arrangement in the customer’s favorite container with items and colors you like to decorate with.
The 66-year-old Clarkston organization is known for its beautiful decorations and plantings in the downtown planters, which change throughout the year.
Members also plant and maintain the Clarkston Independence District Library gardens. Monies from the Greens Market also fund environment and science education in the Clarkston Community Schools as well as provide scholarships for seniors who live in the Clarkston Community Schools area.
‘The Greens Market perfectly sets off Christmas in the Village of Clarkston,” Andes said. “Because there, you’ll find the genuine aroma of fresh greens, the conversation and laughter of good friends, the sound of Christmas carols and an amazing selection of creative fresh greens items. It’s a Christmas tradition in Clarkston!?
