The Oxford Village Council Tuesday 5-0 to increase the sewer rate for single family residential units by $4.59 per month ($55.08 per year).
Beginning in September, customers will pay $22.85 per month – up from the current $18.26 per month. The increase is expected to generate additional revenue totalling $107,680.
Increased operational charges from Oakland County and the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department combined with “unfunded federal mandates for environmental protection” were cited by village officials as reasons for the rate increase.
