Orion Township trustees approved the purchase of about 19 acres of land at 2510 Orion Rd. in Oakland Township in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources at the board meeting Tuesday. Trustees approved the motion in the amount not to exceed $455,900. The agreement, which has been in the development process for the past two years, is to eventually swap the land with another piece of property owned by the MDNR near Civic Center Park. The Oakland Twp. property would then become a new trailhead connection from Bald Mtn. to the Paint Creek Trail.
