Dentist raising funds for autism awareness

The Oxford Smile Center (1120 S. Lapeer Rd.) is celebrating National Autism Awareness Month with a fund-raiser.
During the month of April, the Oxford Smile Center staff will have the option of wearing special uniforms and donating $1 or more each day throughout the month.
Many Oxford Smile Center dental patients will also participate in the fundraiser by providing small donations. Each contributor will be recognized on an Autism Puzzle piece that will be hung in the office. The puzzle pieces are designed to raise awareness for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the fastest growing developmental disability.
Dr. John Khoury will match donations received up to $500. The funds raised will be offered as a charitable donation to the Autism Society of Michigan (ASM), a nonprofit agency that assists individuals with autism spectrum disorder, their family members and professionals who support them.
Members of the community are also encouraged to celebrate Autism Awareness by stopping in the Oxford Smile Center and making a contribution.
