Food for Lighthouse

Pine Knob Elementary Student Council members Bella Lawson, Ava Pawlek, Rhiann Marshall, Madison Drapinski and Gavin Pate help load peanut butter and jelly containers in a van for Lighthouse North. The student council organized a school-wide peanut butter and jelly drive during March. The school collected almost 500 jars. The staff also contributed by having a canned food drive. Clarkston Junior High School students collected 1,850 items and $820 for Lighthouse North in their week-long Souper Bowl food drive.
Clarkston Junior High Leadership class, led by teacher J.C. Paddock, and junior high Optimists Club worked together on the project.
First-hour classes competed to see which could donate the most. The winner was Janet Thomas’ class, earning an Extreme Makeover Classroom Edition, with gift certificate donated by A+ teacher store. Students delivered the food to Lighthouse, Feb. 17, using shopping carts donated by Best Buy.
