The Lake Orion softball team got a surprise from Clarkston last week, losing in the state district championship, 11-3.
The lady Dragons won the last two district titles over Clarkston.
The Dragons took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning on a two-run homer by Rachel Dolland. The Wolves tied the game in the bottom of the inning but then the floodgates opened and Clarkston scored eight more times to win easily 11-3.
Dolland also had two singles to lead the Dragon’s attack. Lake Orion finished 28-11 for the season.
Dolland is one of three seniors on the team. The others are Alexandra Carpenter and Megan Hall. The Dragons should be a powerhouse next season with most of its players returning.
