Digging those dirt roads

A total of 203 bicyclists raced in Oxford’s inaugural Dirt Road Derby Saturday.
The race began on Louck St. in Oxford Village. From there, the cyclists rode a 35-mile course that took them through Oxford, Metamora and Addison townships. They finished in downtown’s northeast parking lot.
Male winners included Cameron Buccellato (19-under), Ronald Catlin (20-29), Daniel Yankus (30-39), Jim Jackovatz (40-49), Tom Markley (50-59) and Fredrick Anderson (60-and-over).
Female winners included Dayna Green (20-29), Erin O’Mara (30-39), Lisa Mankly (40-49) and Bonnie Karas (50-59).
Yankus, 34, was the first cyclist to cross the finish line. He completed the race in 1 hour, 35 minutes, 28 seconds.
Proceeds from the Derby are being distributed in the following manner: $500 to the Banbury Cross Therapeutic Equestrian Center, $500 to the Polly Ann Trail, $500 to the OHS varsity basketball program and $100 to the OHS robotics team.
