Local company re-roofs village park’s gazebo free of charge

Centennial Park’s gazebo has a new roof and a local company is to thank for it.
Storts Roofing, based in Lake Orion, donated a six-man crew to tear off and replace the old roof last week, something that hadn’t been done since the late 1980s.
‘I don’t mind helping out the community whenever I can,? said owner Rod Storts, a 1971 graduate of Lake Orion High School.
The value of the donation is approximately $1,200. The crew was on the job for about four hours Thursday morning.
‘It was a very wonderful thing for them to do,? said village President Sue Bossardet. ‘The village appreciates their kind and generous act . . . I also want to thank (Oxford Township Supervisor) Bill Dunn who arranged it.?
In the past, Storts Roofing has donated labor for the nonprofit Christmas In Action program, which repairs, cleans and improves local homes for senior citizens, low-income individuals and folks with disabilities.
‘I make my living off the community, so if I can help out, it’s like I’m paying them back,? Storts said.
Storts founded his company in 1978.
‘We do mostly residential (jobs),? he said.
