. Lady Cats break even on hardwood

The Lady Wildcats went 1-1 this past week on the hardwood.
The girls? kicked off their week on Jan. 5 with 33-26 victory over West Bloomfield.
Oxford had a slight lead after the first quarter and maintained it for the next three quarters.
Madelyn Morris led the team in scoring with 11 points, followed by Abby Butkiewicz with 9 and Monae Evans with 8. Junior center Grace Cleland contributed 5 points, four blocks and six rebounds. A total of 28 rebounds were racked up between Morris, Butkiewicz and Evans.
Later in the week, the girls travelled to Harrison, hoping to get on a winning streak. While Harrison took an early lead, Oxford battled back to head into the second half trailing by only 2 points. But in the end, they just couldn’t finish it.
‘With 4:32 left on the clock, we let Harrison go on a 14-0 run,? said Head Coach Steve Emert ‘We are improving, working hard and play in the toughest conference in the state.?
The girls will next take to the floor when they travel to Southfield Lathrup on Friday.
‘Not only is Southfield Lathrup ranked in the top 10 in Oakland County, but at one time, they were ranked in the top 25 in the nation,? Emert added. ?’We look forward to Lathrup.? ?
