The Lake Orion girls varsity bowling team has dominated the season.
They have won five tournaments to date and are looking for more.
Recently, the Dragons held second place in the OAA Red. They have the high scratch team game of 1051. Second high scratch individual game was 267 for Tryna Gladstone. Second high team average is 839 and their Baker game average is 191.
Their first win this season was the Early Bird Tournament at Drakshire Lanes in Farmington Hills. The team had a 3554 score. Hannah Mix led the team and was sixth for her 568 series and her high game of 225. Madeline Marcetti finished eighth with a 561, Gladstone was 10th with a 538 and Lexi Babicz was 13th with a 515.
Their second win was the Cougar Classic at Imperial Lanes in Clinton Township. The team qualified third and then went on to beat Richmond, Anchor Bay, Cousino, and Oxford for the number one spot. Mix had a two-game high score of 407 (210,197).
Their third win was the Hochstein Memorial Tournament at Wonderland Lanes in Commerce Township.
The Dragons qualified second with 3351 and then challenged Walled Lake Northern, Clarkston, and then battled Oxford for the title, winning 501 to 494.
Madeline Marcetti placed fifth with a 618, which included a 225 game. Gladstone placed eighth with a 584 and was second with her 257. Mix was 11th with a 547. Babicz was 12th with a 546.
Their fourth win was the Oakland County Tournament at Cherry Hill North in Clarkston.
The girls qualified first with 3494. They successfully faced Clarkston, Walled Lake Northern, Farmington-Harrison, and finished off Waterford Kettering 352 to 309. Marcetti took third with a 605 series, Mix was fourth with a 604 and received high game recognition for rolling a 247. Jessica Cannon had a 565.
The ladies? next win was the Tri-County Bakers Dozen Tournament at 5 Star Lanes in Sterling Heights. The girls qualified fourth with 2233 and then faced Utica, Oxford, John Glenn and Lakeview with best two out of three Baker games.
The LO girls lost their first game to Lakeview but that didn’t stop their push for the win. They came back strong and finished with their fifth first place title.
They are currently 8-1-2 and compete in the OAA Red Division. They have beaten Troy, Royal Oak, Ferndale, Bloomfield Hills, North Farmington, Birmingham, Troy Athens, and Clarkston. They had a match tie against Farmington Hills Harrison.
The Lake Orion team members are: Babicz, Cannon, Madison Ellington, team captains Gladstone and Mix and Marcetti. The junior varsity assists are Savana Rolle and Alex Boyer.
