Community Development Block Grant funds given in 2001 for removing architectural barriers are to be recaptured at the end of this year, but the Orion Township Board of Trustees is asking that the recapture be waived so the funds can be used in Friendship Park.
The board voted to request the recapture be waived for one year, and authorized the supervisor to forward it to Oakland County. The $10,376 in CDBG funds are earmarked for paving an existing path and creating six disabled parking spaces at Friendship Park, located at the corner of Clarkston and Baldwin Roads.
