A public hearing will be held at Orion Township Hall on Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. for the purpose of reprogramming 2003 Community Development Block Grant funds, and allocating those funds for the 2004 program.
The township is eligible to receive $84,394 for the 2004 program year. The CDBG committee proposed the following allocations for 2004 funds: $27,197 for transportation, $6,000 for senior newsletter, $5,000 for camp program, $1,000 for Home Chore, and $2,000 for battered and abused spouses.
The committee also proposed $1,000 for needy residents, $35,000 for removing architectural barriers, and $7,197 for senior center facilities and equipment.
The 2004 CDBG application deadline is Dec. 5. The committee has also proposed reprogramming to include a specific list of equipment and projects for the senior center in the 2003 project description.
