Dear Editor,
A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped with the 5th annual Bookin’ It For Your Library 5K and Dewey Decimal Dash on May 14. Despite the brisk weather, the turnout was amazing!
We had 388 register for the 5K run/walk and 35 for the Dewey Decimal Dash, raising just over $6000. We so enjoyed having the Harvey Swanson, Oakwood, and BFIS running clubs this year, too! This event would not be possible without the dedication of all of our volunteers along the course, including the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), officers from the Brandon Twp. Substation, and countless other adults and students who helped make our route safe and cheered on the runners and walkers. Thank you DPW employees for hanging our banner, putting out road barricades, and maintaining our village so beautifully. A big shout out for our wonderful sponsors: A&W, Aire Serv Heating and A/C, Alpine Roofing Complete Inc, Blackhawks Auto Repair, Brandon Chiropractic Center, Bullfrogs, Cook’s Farm Dairy, For the Love of Local, Fortitude Fitness, Friends of the Brandon Twp Public Library, Graveldinger Graphix, Hillside Bible Church (who provided our water stop), Jane Derry-Burkett of Remax/Encore, JNJ Plumbing, Lynn’s Dance Studio, Marr Chiropractic, Michigan Filter and Fleet Supply Inc, Mindset Management Inc, North Oaks Community Church, Oxford Family Dentistry, Pasteiner’s.com, and Sterling Title Agency. Thank you to The Citizen staff for all of the great coverage, and to Brenda Timmermans, who did a fantastic job taking pictures of our event! They can be found on the Brandon Library Facebook page.
