Ortonville’s Truck Town Thunder robotics team can be seen in action at the free ROBO-CON Festival of Robotics and STEM Learning, happening 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 23, at 170 Millville Rd., in Lapeer.
Truck Town Thunder, also known as T3, will be among 18 robotics teams from across Michigan facing off in exhibition matches during the festival, which features hands-on science and tech activities such as Google Cardboard Virtual Reality goggles, build-and-compete catapults, underwater robots, and light-up circuits. Festival guests are also invited to drive robots and progress through 5 levels of robotics to earn ROBO driver’s licenses.
Educators are welcome to get in on the fun, as well as hear from teachers involved in robotics during the 2 p.m. educator roundtable discussion, moderated by Andrew Spiece, Ortonville’s T3 robotics team advisor.
