Oakland County voters narrowly dumped the Regional Transit Authority millage 293,510 to 292,401.
Wayne and Washtenaw counties Ok’d the millage 359,244 to 322,447, and 93,994 to 73,270. But, Macomb county, rejected the millage 222,806 no to 148,159 yes.
On Nov. 8 Oakland County voters along with those in Macomb, Wayne and Washtenaw counties, considered a Regional Transit Authority funding request for 1.2 mills over 20 years. The money would have been used to build and operate a public transportation system between the counties, including rapid transit bus routes and a rail route between Detroit and Ann Arbor.
