George S Smith, of Chicago formally of Ortonville, died Jan. 12, 2017.
He was 88.
George and wife Toni were instrumental in the town celebration of the Ortonville Sesquicentennial and he
owned the Designsmith’s shop.
Born in Hubbell, Mich. he is survived by wife Antonia (Toni). Children: Timothy (Meriam), Amy, Ellen Karas and
Suzanne (Todd) Cleveland. Grandchildren: Brad, Matt, Amy (Owen) Lutz, Olivia, Amira, Evan and Noura. Brother to Larry-dec. (Mary), Robert-dec. (Kathleen-dec.), Helen (Bob) Kuhn, James-dec., Brian, Barbara (Dan) Devine, Paul-Dec. (Jeanine), Marion (George-dec.) Shea-Light. Stuart’s career started as a Crowley’s store display man in Detroit and continued as a business administrator in Philadelphia, Chicago and Detroit. He was an avid member of civic and theater groups.
