Residents vote incumbents to council

The new Clarkston City Council will look exactly like the old Clarkston City Council. Incumbents Dan Colombo, Walt Gamble Jr. and David Savage were voted back on the council during Tuesday’s election.
In a close election, Dan Colombo led the way with 155 votes, while Walt Gamble followed with 154 votes and Dave Savage finished with 150 votes. Newcomers Steve Wylie and Steve Coventry finished with 135 and 94 votes, respectively.
“Steve Coventry and Steve Wylie ran real good campaigns,” Colombo said.
“I encourage those guys to run again. They had quite a bit of support.”
Colombo took the three incumbents retaining their seats as a sign of support from the residents.
“I am happy obviously. It shows people approve of the job we are doing and that is important and meaningful. We will go to work these next two years and make some more progress,” Colombo said.
A total of 276 of the 870 registered voters in the City of the Village of Clarkston voted in the election.
“We had 31 percent voting. That is a good turnout for this type of election,” City Manager Art Pappas said.
