Students at Renaissance school raise funds for Lighthouse

The Clarkston Renaissance High School students got in the holiday spirit this past week.
The students participated in “Penny Wars,” to raise money for Lighthouse to purchase turkeys.
“We were looking for something to raise money for and since Lighthouse used to be in our building we thought it was a good idea,” CRHS Student Council Coordinator Jackie Pascoe said. “We called them and they said they were in need of turkeys for Thanksgiving, and if we could raise the money they could purchase them at a good cost.”
Once the high school got their cause, they began the fun. Pascoe said while the project started slow, the last few days were busy. The Renaissance students raised a total of $100.
“That is pretty good considering we don’t have many students here at all,” Pascoe said.
Pascoe, along with fellow Student Council Coordinator Lexlie Hallman, said they were proud of how the students responded.
“Everybody got in the spirit and they all worked together. It was really fun to see. They were very enthusiastic,” Pascoe said.
While all the students were involved, the members of the student council presented Lighthouse Supervisor Connie Stapleton with the money on Nov. 24.
