A Brandon Township man has been arrested for multiple alleged break-ins at convenience stores in Orion Township, Independence Township and Brandon Township.
Nathan Calhoun is suspected of breaking into a convenience store in Orion Township on May 17 at 12:49 a.m., a store in Brandon Township at 1:52 a.m., and a store in Independence Township at 2:07 a.m.
Detectives from Independence, Brandon and Orion Townships have been working together processing evidence and the recovered stolen property. The team of detectives are working on five other cases involving theft and break-ins from the same geographical area which all occurred within a four-hour window and additional charges may be issued at a future date.
Lt. Greg Glover, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Brandon substation commander said the arrest was a team effort.
“It was a great piece of police work, “ said Glover. “The surrounding townships, working together to make the arrest.”
On May 19, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office detectives from Independence and Brandon townships arraigned Calhoun via video at the 52-2 District Court. The charges were two counts of breaking and entering a building with intent, which are 10 year felonies. Calhoun received a $10,000 cash/surety with a 10 percent bond requiring a tether prior to release. Calhoun is due in front of Judge Joseph G. Fabrizio on June 1, 2020.
Calhoun has a prior conviction for fleeing and eluding.
