Martians move into second in GAC Red Division with defeat of Genesee

The Goodrich volleyball team is still in the hunt to repeat as Genesee Area Conference Red Division champions.
The host Martians took sole possession of second place in the GAC Red with a 15-0, 15-2 defeat of Genesee, improving Goodrich’s mark to 11-16-2 overall and 4-2 in the league.
Ellen Nothhelfer led the Martians by going 9-of-9 serving with five digs, while Julie Owen went 5-of-5 serving and 11-of-11 setting with six assists.
Tara Garman and Marissa Misura added four kills each for the Martians.
The host Martians were simply no match for the powerhouse New Lothrop Hornets Jan. 29, dropping a 15-10, 15-4 contest.
New Lothrop, ranked fifth in Class C, won its 42nd straight league game to improve to 24-3-1 overall and 4-0 in the GAC Red Division.
