Legion post looks for applicants

Applications are available for the 67th Michigan American Legion Boys? State, a program that introduces young men to the workings of government.
‘This program shows we can make a difference on the grassroots level,? Roger Deaton, Boys State Chairman, said.
Scheduled for June 20-26, selected students attend the week-long program in Lansing. Housed on the campus of Michigan State University, students visit state offices while learning the inner workings of local politics.
Students also have the chance to meet important government officials and compete for a chance to participate in the national Boys? State.
‘It’s a really great program,? Deaton said. ‘It looks good on a resume.?
Eligible candidates should be completing their junior year of high school in 2004 and be at least 15 years old by Jan. 1, 2004.
Applications are due by Feb. 16 and are available at Clarkston High School fromcounselor Joseph Choma. Interviews will take place on Feb. 24 for those selected to go further with the candidate process.
