Clarkston High School freshman Hayley Albright recently won the title of Miss Junior America Teen- North Clarkston and will be competing for the state title Feb. 22 in Novi.
Albright was recommended to apply for the contest. She filled out an application that described her hobbies, interests at school, and plans for the future. The person who recommends a potential candidate remains anonymous.
‘They don’t tell you who it is, but I really wish they did,? Albright said.
A phone interview followed the application process.
At the state pageant, Albright will compete in a casual-wear event, a formal-wear event, and a 20-second interview that introduces her to the judges and audience.
‘I get to meet tons of new people.? Albright said. ‘This is a whole new experience, something I’ve never done before.?
At school, Albright is active in the Interact service club. She also enjoys ballet and piano.
The winner from the Michigan state level will go on to the national competition in Atlanta this summer.
