Troy — On March 28-29 at Troy Athens High School, 39 high school robotics teams from across Michigan competed for the FIM Troy District Event #2 Championship title.
The alliance led by the top seeded Goodrich Martians Team #494 with their partners The Crew team #7769 from Royal Oak, and The Hamady Hawks team #9242 from Flint won the event. Team #494 were also awarded the Quality Award which celebrates robot robustness in concept and fabrication. The awarded team must be able to describe their quality plan on how their design ensures robustness throughout the entire competition, that their robot demonstrates quality workmanship, welds, attachment systems, and that their robot can withstand the rigors of competition and maintain functionality.
The alliance #5 led by the “More Martians” finished as semi-finalists. The “More Martians Team #70” also took home the Judges’ Award for overall performance both on and off the field.
On April 4-6, Ortonville’s Truck Town Thunder Team #68, the Goodrich More Martians team #70, and the Goodrich Martians Team #494 will compete in the FIRST in Michigan State Championship at the University Center of Saginaw Valley State University. The event is open to the public and free.
