Ortonville — The Michigan Blackhawk’s 8U Baseball team, coached by Dave Will, took home second place in the inaugural O-Ville Ice Breaker Baseball Tournament April 20-21 at Charles F Sherman Memorial Park, Ortonville. The 8U Michigan Blackhawk sluggers hit six home runs in the championship game but still came up short against the Foutch Baseball 8U Red team of Flint.
The mid-April inaugural tournament was organized and run by the Michigan Blackhawk’s Homerun Club. The Under 8, 9, and 10 year old baseball tournament featured teams from Flint, Dewitt, Shelby, Wyoming, Wixom, along with other teams statewide.
The local Michigan Blackhawk’s 9U team, coached by RJ McPhail came up short on Sunday in the semi-finals. The Blackhawk’s 10U team coached by Adam Bowden fell in the semi-finals on Sunday.
