Brandon Twp. — Brandon Blackhawk #7 Nolan Wood was taken down in the box on an obvious scoring opportunity and Goodrich was given a red card with just over 15 minutes left in the game.
Blackhawk #4 Senior Colin McKinney kept a cool head and capitalized on the penalty kick, securing the 1-0 win as the Blackhawks continued the undefeated Flint Metro League season and their first District Championship since 2015.
Senior Keeper Ben Misenar kept the sheet clean, earning his 12th shutout of the season as the Blackhawks head into regional play.
“These Blackhawks have been preparing since June for this season with nothing but hard work,” said Blackhawk Head Coach Shawn Lovelace. “No shortcuts, no excuses, just hard work. They wanted to be Flint Metro League and District Champions this season, and it has brought me great joy to watch them accomplish both tasks.”
