Dear editor,
I have a better’and less expensive’suggestion for the health and fitness of Orion Township employees; it’s the plan my family has used for years.?
It’s called an annual $30 Oakland County Parks pass, and it’s good for all four seasons.?
You and your family members can walk (or run on) the rolling trails at nearby Orion Oaks, with or without your dog.
In winter, you can continue hiking, bundled up and wearing boots, or you can cross country ski or sled down any number of hills.?
You can walk with your spouse and share some quiet time together without the cacophony of kids in the house, or you can walk with your kids and let the free-flowing conversation lead you to topics you might not broach directly without a lot of eye-rolling.?
You can walk with your friends, neighbors, and coworkers and socialize while exercising.? You can walk alone to clear your mind, solve problems in your head, or pray.? The beauty of this park pass plan is that it’s good for one’s physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.?
And the fee goes right into Oakland County’s parks and rec coffers, to maintain our wonderful system!?
I don’t think the taxpayers would mind subsidizing a park pass for our township employees? well-being.?
