Brandon Twp.
– Coming soon: A night of family fun.
The township’s second annual movie night will feature the new Disney movie “Zootopia” shown on a 17-foot inflatable screen, but preceded by several events that had previously been held separately.
“An Evening at the Park,” begins at 4 p.m., July 30, at the Community Park, 1414 N. Hadley Road. The park will host a variety of activities for several hours prior to the movie, including inflatable bounce houses for the kids, a petting zoo provided by Party Animals, and musical entertainment from the Paint Creek Boys.
Additionally, arts and craft vendors will be on site and there will be a community garage sale. Concessions are also available for purchase from Order Up catering.
“Zootopia,” will be shown for free on the big screen beginning at dusk (roughly 9 p.m.). Residents are invited to bring their own blankets or low-slung lawn chairs, for set up on the sledding hill at the park, which is comfortably sloped and makes for ideal viewing of the movie on the screen to be positioned at the bottom of the hill.
Last year, about 200 people attended movie night.
“Come and enjoy family time, that is what we are all about at parks and recreation,” said Recreation Director Fred Waybrant.
Sponsors who make the free entertainment possible include MDTS of Ortonville, Rumball &Wojtkowicz, PLC, The Citizen, and Valley Tent Rental.
Waybrant is still seeking sponsors, who for different levels of sponsorship can receive a 30-second commercial or large company banner. Vendor spots are also still available at a reduced price, $25 for a 10×10 space. Any proceeds after costs from the event will be used toward park development.
