Brandon Township resident Jonathan Sheperd has achieved testing perfection.
Sheperd, who’s heading into his senior year at Notre Dame Preparatory School in Pontiac, scored a perfect 36 on his ACT test.
‘I was pretty confident (while taking the test),? he said. ‘I had taken it a few times before, and I had done pretty well.?
Of the three previous times Sheperd took the test, his highest score was 35.
According to ACT, the independent, not-for-profit organization that administers the test nationwide, less than one-tenth of one percent of test-takers earn a composite score of 36.
And that’s out of about 2.4 million ACT tests administered in the United States.
The proportion of 2008 high school graduates who scored a perfect 36 was 1-in-3,300. The national average ACT composite score for 2008 was 21.1.
Sheperd is hoping to get into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he’d like to pursue his interests in math and science.
The township student is a member of Notre Dame Prep’s award-winning robotics team and is an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme candidate.
