Administrators prepare for first day of school

Amid the hustle and bustle of back to school chores, many parents and students may show surprise to learn an interesting fact about Clarkston Community Schools ? for weeks now school administrators have been hard at work preparing for a smooth September start.
‘Our administrators work all summer, even though they will take the majority of their vacation in the summer,? said Anita Banach, director of communications and marketing. ‘Administrators work year around. The summer months are extremely busy. While they are hiring new teachers, they are also doing teacher placements, student schedules and student classroom assignments.?
In addition to all this , administrators also spend the summer scheduling staff professional development and coordinating building-wide summer cleaning projects.
And parents across the district will soon see the results of that summertime work. Student class assignments should be in the mail the week of Aug. 22. The 2005-06 calendar is updated and going to print, and should be in mailboxes the week of Aug. 29.
Parents and students anxious to get a jump on the school year may access the calendar online at ww2.clarkston.k12.mi.us or the community calender at http://clarkstoncalendar.org/.
Or for those who like to be in the know, a brief glimpse of the rest of August is below.
