An old English play for an old English village

Canterbury Village looks the part and on July 6 and 7 it also sounded like an old English village when the Great Lakes Community Players put on a production of Hamlet for all to watch.
The crowds came, laughed, cried and sat in suspense while watching LOHS graduate Tahra Gribbin’s interpretation of the popular Shakespeare play. The production itself was interesting in its simplicity – the stage was no more than props and a cloth backdrop suspended between two trees.
Not enough actors could be found for all part, so some even pulled double duty. Still, the shortcomings were barely noticed and the reaction from the crowd points toward future productions from the young company.
