The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a welfare check at an apartment on Applewood in the Sycamore Creek Apartment complex on Baldwin Road on Feb. 28.
According to an OCSD report, the apartment manager said an odor had been reported coming from the apartment, as well as the sound of a bathtub running. When deputies entered, they found the bathtub was leaking, there were garbage bags piled up in the hallway, and food was all over the sink, table and fridge, some of it molded.
It was difficult to walk into some of the rooms because of debris on the floor. The apartment manager said the rent was paid up, but that she wasn’t sure if anyone was living there because no one had been seen since early February.
The manager plans on starting an eviction notice. The deputies asked her to inform them if she found out anyone was living there.
