At 10:30 a.m., Aug. 3, Brandon deputies and the Independence Township Fire Department responded to a personal injury accident near Reese Road, south of Deer Forest Court.
A 45 year old resident of Independence Township was driving a garbage truck southbound on Reese Road when he lost control, running into an embankment on the east side of the road. The embankment caused the truck to rollover onto it’s right side, which partially ejected the passenger from the cab. The passenger was pinned between the truck and the road surface. The passenger had not been wearing a seat belt.
The Independence Township Fire Department arrived and pulled the passenger from under the truck. The injuries he sustained were serious. The 20 year old Independence resident was transported to McLaren-Oakland Hospital and he is listed as in critical condition.
Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash and the incident remains under investigation.
