Area soccer players benefit from ‘British invasion’ through camp

The Orion Township Parks and Recreation Department hosted Challenger British Soccer Camps for area players on July 14-18 at Civic Center Park on Joslyn Road.
Challenger British Soccer is one of the most respected and experienced soccer training organizations in the United States. The week-long camp featured one and a half hour sessions for novice players, three-hour sessions for older and more experienced players, and an advanced six-hour camp for competitive players.
Players ages 4-18 were coached by a member of the British staff flown to the USA exclusively to perform a series of summer coaching camps. Challenger will coach more than 60,000 players and over 20,000 coaches this year. Each participant in the Orion Township camp received a soccer ball, t-shirt, evaluations, certificates and ribbons.
