An armed robbery was thwarted early Monday morning at the CVS Pharmacy, 295 S. Broadway, in Lake Orion.
The Lake Orion Police Department reported a lone female entered the store at approximately 6:13 a.m. and asked an employee where specific items could be found. When the employee walked away, the female told the person that she ‘had a gun? and other armed accomplices were outside and would join her if the CVS employees did not comply with her demands.
According to the police, the female then demanded the store surveillance system be disabled and other items brought to the front counter. She then demanded the register cash be placed in a bag.
As one employee met her demands, another nearby employee ? fearing for their safety ? took ‘physical control? of the female subject and wrestled her to the ground. An employee then call 9-1-1 and the LOPD responded. The female suspect was taken into custody without incident. All of the cash and property were recovered at the scene. No weapons were found.
The 34-year-old female Lake Orion resident was taken to the Oakland County Jail, pending charges. LOPD said she has an outstanding warrant with other charges. Officers are continuing their investigation.
