Brandon Twp.- An exciting, fun evening is the plan for this year’s major library fundraiser? an art auction set for 6 p.m., Oct. 20 at the library, 304 South St.
‘We chose an art auction because we thought it would be different and fun,? said Zoe Pearson, public relations director for the library.
Tickets are $10 and attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, dessert, red and white wines donated by Tom Fischer, and a live auctioneer. The auction is presented by Marlin Art, an auction house based in New York that has been in business for nearly 40 years.
Lee Fogel, Marlin Art event planner, says the auction house will bring approximately 160 pieces of art, in all price ranges and all media, including oils, watercolors, lithographs, serigraths and gouches. Hand-blown glass and sculptures will also be auctioned. Artists include Wyeth, Boulanger, LeRoy Neiman, Chagall, Wooster-Scott, Kinkade, and Tarkay. Pieces will include originals and reproductions, generally priced in the $45-$400 range, up to 50 percent less than traditional gallery prices. Major credit cards are accepted.
The library will get all proceeds from each ticket sold and a percentage of each piece sold. Funds raised will pay for programs such as celebrity speakers, cooking classes, wine tastings, teen programming, and more.
A one-hour art preview begins at 6 p.m.,also at which time a silent auction will take place with art donated from local artists. Live auction bidding begins at 7 p.m.
