Bake shop offers sweet summer classes

Sweet & Savory Bake Shop in downtown Oxford has exciting summer programs for children interested in decorating cookies and cakes.
Not unlike their past programs for kids, like visits from the Easter Bunny, children will have a table filled with cookies or cakes to decorate.
‘These events in the past have gone over very well with the children and parents,? said Debbie Meyers, co-owner of Sweet & Savory.
Each event is $10 per session where the children get a snack and have a great time.
‘It’s something different for kids to do during the summer,? Meyers said.
The first event is Summer Beach Day for children seven-years-old or younger. On Wednesday, July 25, children can go to Sweet & Savory at 2:30 p.m. in their beach attire to decorate cookies. There will be a table for the children to go to that transforms that part of the shop into a day at the beach.
‘We like to make our events interactive, by dressing in their beach attire the children will be into the theme of the day,? Meyers said.
A Children’s Cake Decorating day is on Monday, August 6. For this day there are two session, one at 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and another at 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children from the ages of seven to 13 are welcome to come and share in the fun.
The final day of the Summer Kids Programs is Wednesday August 15 at 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a Teddy Bear Picnic. Children seven years or younger can bring their teddy bears and decorate cookies.
