In a tightly fought Flint Metro League contest, the Brandon varsity boys soccer team pulled out a win.
The Blackhawks? Chris Barth scored with about three minutes left in Brandon’s Aug. 31 game against Fenton, giving the Blackhawks a 1-0 win against the Tigers in Brandon’s season opener.
Senior goalie Jerry Cronk made nine saves in pitching the shutout for the Blackhawks.
The Martians are scheduled to take on their neighbors from Brandon in a Sept. 7 contest at Brandon. The game starts at 6:30 p.m.
