Battle of the bands at BHS

Brandon Twp.- Bring on the bands.
The Brandon Marching Band Invitational, planned for 10:15 a.m.-3 p.m., Oct. 18, at Brandon High School, 1025 S. Ortonville Road, is expected to be the largest ever.
The seventh annual invitational will have 15 bands participating, including the Brandon Marching Band, scheduled to perform at 2:15 p.m.
‘We’re really excited to bring in so many different communities to one place to see what our school is like and to be in Ortonville,? said Matt Pagel, Brandon band director. ‘It’s been a really strong season, the kids are really enjoying the program and every week it just gets better and better.?
The Brandon Marching Band will perform their ‘Pirates!? show, which consists of three parts, ‘Setting Sail,? ‘Mysteries of the Sea,? and ‘The Battle for Gold.? Brandon performs in class A, with nine other schools, but as the host school, will not place in the judged exhibition.
Bands attending the invitational this year are from Mt. Morris, Bad Axe, St. Clair Shores Lakeview, Edsel Ford (Dearborn), John Glenn (Wayne-Westland), Clio, Waterford Mott, Woodhaven, Lapeer, Oxford, Fowlerville, Gibraltar Carlson, Davison, and Chippewa Valley.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and students, and children under 5 are free. Families up to six people can gain admission for $20. Concessions, a 50/50 raffle, prize raffle, and band spirit wear will also be available.
