Oxford High School thespians will bring the award-winning Disney musical ‘Beauty and the Beast? to the stage March 19-22 at the school’s Fine Arts Center.
In order to bring ‘a tale as old as time? to life, it took a lot of busy hands behind the scenes, according to Director Krista Price.
‘It takes a very large team to do a musical. It’s certainly not just a director, so we have people working on the set, vocal team and orchestra in the pit, choreographer and costumers,? Price said. ‘It’s just a huge team you have to bring together with a lot of moving parts.?
Playing the lead roles of Beast and Belle are Jack Paruszkiewicz and Alyson Ryskamp
‘It’s been one of my favorite roles,? Paruszkiewicz said. ‘It’s been very fun. I like being terrifying on stage.?
Ryskamp agreed. ‘I get to be a princess, which is every girl’s dream role,? she added. ?(The character Belle) is just a (more) fun and different role to play than any of my other roles.?
Price said the entire cast and crew has been ‘very hard working.?
‘They are definitely the type of kids who any director would be lucky to work with,? she said.
Tickets are $5 (student), $8 (adult) and $12 VIP (center section).
